With extremely windy conditions, a wildfire broke out in the Lefthand Canyon Area just north west of Boulder Colorado, the front range foothills of the Rocky Mountains.
A 200 acre wildfire broke out in the Lefthand Canyon area, in the foothills just north west of the city of Boulder in extreamly windy conditions on Friday. Fire Investigators say the “Lefthand fire” in Boulder County, Colorado is now 25-percent contained on 3-11-2011. 200 homeowners were evacuated. Some of those evacuees are now returning home. 12 homes are still in danger. Investigators are saying this fire was human caused. Very Strong winds combined with extream dry weather have increased the fire danger in and around the Colorado Front Range of the Rockies.
Update as of today 3-14-2011 the Lefthand Canyon Wildfire is 80% contained.
