Lefthand Canyon WildFire Boulder Colorado

With extremely windy conditions, a wildfire broke out in the Lefthand Canyon Area just north west of Boulder Colorado, the front range foothills of the Rocky Mountains.

A 200 acre wildfire broke out in the Lefthand Canyon area, in the foothills just north west of the city of Boulder in extreamly windy conditions on Friday. Fire Investigators say the “Lefthand fire” in Boulder County, Colorado is now 25-percent contained on 3-11-2011. 200 homeowners were evacuated. Some of those evacuees are now returning home. 12 homes are still in danger. Investigators are saying this fire was human caused. Very Strong winds combined with extream dry weather have increased the fire danger in and around the Colorado Front Range of the Rockies.

Update as of today 3-14-2011 the Lefthand Canyon Wildfire is 80% contained.

Several residential subdivisions on the west side of Boulder, Colorado, were being evacuated Friday as a wildfire spread in Boulder Canyon, authorities said.

The Boulder Dome Fire is burning and was moving north near Elephant Buttress above Dome Rock, said a spokesman with the Colorado Office of Emergency Management.

Authorities were evacuating the Canon Park, Seven Hills and Knollwood subdivisions. Evacuees were being advised to go to the Coors Events Center at the University of Colorado.

More than 1,700 people were evacuated from their homes Friday morning on the western edge of Boulder and just west of the city after a 134-acre wildfire broke out. 10-29-10. These images were taken from the north, looking at Boulder.

Friday June 25th, 2010. Round Mountain Wild Fire - a fire near the Round Mountain Trail, just above Viestenz-Smith Mountain Park burning in the Big Thompson Canyon that leads up to Rocky Mountain Park from Loveland. This is a smaller fire that broke out below the fire burning in Rocky Mountain National Park sparked by lightning that is up to 300 acres at this point in time.
