Lightning Thunderstorm the BIG and the Small

Very large close lightning bolts striking in the sky with a lightning bolt that appears to be smaller but mighty in the distance of the agriculture farming fields of east Boulder County Colorado. July 15th, 2014 10:53 pm – ISO 500 – f5.6 – 30 sec – 16mm – Canon 6D Full Frame.
The average lightning strike is six miles long. A cloud-to-ground lightning channel can be 2 to 10 miles long. Voltage in a cloud-to-ground strike is 100 million to 1 billion volts.

This is a very large wide NE to West panorama done with nine portrait images stitched together. This is a cropped version. A view from highway 36 looking northeast to Longmont on the left, the Boulder Flatirons are off center, the foothills of the Rocky Mountains on the right . Sunset Storm and Moon from Longmont to Boulder CO Panorama

July 9th, 2014, Boulder County Colorado, scenic panorama landscape of a storm front with an almost full moon and blue sky above that reaches from Longmont to Boulder at sunset . A view from highway 36 between Lyons and Boulder at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains looking northeast to southeast. The thunderstorm came in from the northwest, heading southeast…. kinda weird. This is a very large 11 portrait wide angle images with major over lapping to get this effect. It took four hours to complete the processing. Hope you like.

Rollinsville Colorado Sunset

A scenic landscape view of the small town of Rollinsville Colorado in Gilpin County with the reflection of a beautiful sunset sky in a calm lake. Rollinsville is located in the mountains southwest of the city of Boulder, on the flank of a hill above South Boulder Creek along State Highway 119 between Nederland and Black Hawk. It consists of a small cluster of residences and several businesses at the terminus of the road leading westward up to Rollins Pass at the summit of the Front Range and continental divide. The population as of the 2010 Census was 181.
